Ashneer Grover's Hotel TV Rant: A Wake-Up Call for the Indian Hospitality Industry?

In a fiery social media post, Ashneer Grover has put Indian hotels on blast for their ancient TV technology, and the internet is here for it.

Ashneer Grover is at it again, and this time he's taking aim at the Indian hotel industry. In a fiery social media post that has since gone viral, the former Shark Tank India judge has put hotels on blast for their "outdated" and "irritating" in-room television systems.

"Kindly upgrade the TVs in your rooms to 55-inch smart LED TVs," Grover wrote, directly addressing the hotel chains. "It will cost you ₹30,000 at most, which is just two days' room rent for you. No one uses outdated, slow TVs with your hotel software."

The post has struck a chord with travelers across the country, who have long complained about the sad state of hotel TVs. From clunky interfaces and multiple remotes to a lack of streaming options, the in-room entertainment experience at many Indian hotels leaves a lot to be desired.

"He's not wrong," one user commented on Grover's post. "I've stayed in five-star hotels that have TVs from the stone age. It's ridiculous."

"Finally, someone said it!" another wrote. "I'm so tired of having to watch cable when I'm on vacation. Let me watch my Netflix in peace!"

Grover's rant has also sparked a larger conversation about the state of the Indian hospitality industry. Are hotels doing enough to keep up with the changing needs and expectations of travelers? Or are they resting on their laurels, content to offer a subpar experience at a premium price?

"This is about more than just TVs," a travel blogger wrote in a response to Grover's post. "It's about the entire guest experience. Hotels need to realize that we're not just looking for a place to sleep anymore. We're looking for a home away from home, and that means having access to the same technology and amenities that we have in our own homes."

The ball is now in the court of the Indian hotel industry. Will they heed Grover's call and invest in upgrading their technology? Or will they continue to ignore the needs of their guests and risk falling behind the competition?

One thing is for sure: Ashneer Grover has once again proven that he's not afraid to speak his mind. And in doing so, he may have just started a revolution in the Indian hospitality industry.
